How do you entice visitors to a
major US fishing show to open
their minds to a new fishing
destination in Canada?

Strategy

SDMG and our good friends at Phoenix Group partnered to create a compelling consumer show presence for Tourism Saskatchewan at the Denver Sport Fishing Show. The idea was to create a virtual 'photo booth' where visitors could have their photos taken with exact replicas of one of three world-record-setting fish caught in Saskatchewan. The specially designed application snapped high definition digital photos of the visitors and automatically pushed the photos to a special landing site. Visitors could retrieve their photos using by entering a unique barcode online, at which time they had the opportunity to opt-in for further communication, select the photo as their desktop wallpaper, mobile device wallpaper, social networking thumbnail or digital photo to print and frame.


Results

The show was a rousing success, with nearly 1,000 visitors having their photos taken. More than 55% opted-in to receiving additional messaging from Tourism Saskatchewan, forwarded to friends and entered to win a fishing getaway.
